What to expect from an NQA auditor

In this video, Adam Faiers from ISO Compliance Register interviews Archie Gemmell, Field Director at NQA, a leading UKAS/ANAB accredited certification body who provides certification, training and support services for ISO standards. 

In this section of the interview, we talked about what you can expect from an NQA audit. This provides great insight into how NQA audits work and what will happen during the audit. Some might view audits as daunting, which makes the discussion in this video quite a reassuring one! 

We discuss how important it is for customers to be engaged in the process and well-organised. Auditors are there to test systems rather than pick faults – meaning it is important to have open and honest conversations. This allows the auditor to get into more depth, which leads to the customer benefiting more from the process. 

So what’s the worst that could happen in an audit? A non-conformance is a worst-case scenario but should be seen as an opportunity rather than a negative situation. Non-conformances drive improvement, through understanding what went wrong and how conformance can be achieved.
